Future Lap Task Formats

In this post we explore a few different thoughts and options for future tasks scenarios.

Apart from refining the original MiniTask there are new task formats waiting to be defined. A few formats I could think of right now:

  1. MicroTask Lap Race.
I envisage a shortened 5min version of the Mini Lap Race to cater for general impatience but also for locations with limited scope for climbing (e.g. due to airspace or coastal)

  2. The Climb 1000
A pure climbing race who can climb 1000m the fastest. Essentially the question is who can climb in their house thermal the quickest in a thermal.

  3. The Rotation 2000
Similar to The Climb 1000 but including a rapid decent area. Imagine climbing as fast as possible on “the right” once 1000m are done race to a designated height loss area, spiral down and climb the 1000m once more.

  4. Multi-Participant Short Circuit Racing
As the name suggests – a standard mini- or micro task but have people compete against each other live. Could be in a 1-on-1 format or small group of pilots. Will need suitable task setting with bigger waypoints to maintain safety.

  5. Special obstacle scenarios.
We are getting creative here thinking of tunnels, gates, step ladders, ping-ponging up/down between two WPs, chimney etc.
Do you have an idea for a new standard task format we could implement?
